Privacy policy

What we collect when you use this site, why, and how to opt out. Plain language, no fine print games. Last updated 3 September 2026.

The short version

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to run your child's classes. Depending which form you fill in, that's:

  • Booking a free trial or enrolling — your child's first name and age, your name and mobile number, the class and date you've picked, and anything you choose to add in the notes field (an injury, a request, that sort of thing).
  • Telling us about an absence or booking a make-up — your child's first name, your mobile number, and which weeks and sessions.
  • Switching sessions — your name, mobile number, and the session you'd like to move to.
  • Texting or emailing us directly — whatever you send us.

That's it. We don't ask for your address, your child's school, Medicare details, or anything medical beyond what you volunteer yourself in a notes field.

Tracking on this site

The Meta pixel & other tools that run on this site

Cloudflare Web Analytics

Counts how many people visit each page. It's cookieless and can't be tied to your name, your booking, or any other visit you make elsewhere — it's just a number that goes up.

The Meta pixel

If you arrive here after clicking one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, the Meta pixel is how we find out whether that ad actually led to a trial booking — without it, we're paying for ads and guessing at what's working. It tells us "someone from ad X booked a trial"; it doesn't hand us your name or your phone number through the pixel itself.

Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) also receives this data and may use it, alongside your own Facebook or Instagram account, for its own ad targeting and reporting — that's part of how the pixel works and is between you and Meta under Meta's own privacy policy, not something we control.

Opting out: Meta gives you control over this at facebook.com/adpreferences — you can turn off ads based on activity from other websites and apps. Most ad blockers and browser tracking-protection settings also stop the pixel from firing at all.

Cloudflare Turnstile

Runs when you submit the booking, enrolment or absence form, to check you're not a bot before it reaches us. It looks at ordinary signals about your browser and connection — see Cloudflare's privacy policy. We also use your IP address briefly, the same way, to stop the booking forms being spammed — it's not stored against your name.

SMS

Text messages

Once you've booked a trial or enrolled, we text you from our Go Badminton number to confirm the class, remind you the day before, and handle payments and absences. That's the whole reason we ask for your mobile number.

Reply STOP to any text and we'll stop messaging you — that reply is picked up automatically and your number is added to our suppression list, so nothing else goes out to it. You can also just tell us directly and we'll do it by hand.

Storage & who sees it

Where it's kept, and who sees it

Your details go into our own records — the same booking, enrolment and absence forms on this site write into the Google Sheets and student records we use to run Go Badminton day to day. Only Will and Go Badminton coaches see what they need to run your child's class — a name and a level, not a phone number.

A few outside services carry or process your details on our behalf, and only for that purpose: Google (the forms themselves, and where the records are stored), Cloudflare (hosting this site, the anti-bot check, and the analytics above), and Twilio (the service that actually sends our texts). None of them are allowed to use your details for their own purposes — they're just carrying the message or holding the record for us.

Your call

Your rights & how to opt out

  • Ask what we hold. Text, call or email us and we'll tell you what's on your child's record.
  • Ask us to fix or delete it. We will, except where we're required to keep something — a paid booking's record, for example, for as long as tax law requires.
  • Stop the texts. Reply STOP to any message, any time.
  • Stop the ad tracking. Turn it off at Meta's ad preferences, or with your browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker — see above.
  • We don't cold-call, and we don't pass your number to anyone outside running your child's class.
